2019 marks the twentieth anniversary of the death of the exceptional musician Moondog. Moondog, who was active both in the USA and in Germany as a street artist,
mobile poet and instrument maker, is still an important influence in contemporary art today. In his honor, composer Thies Mynther (also known from Phantom Ghost, Superpunk, Stella) and theatre maker
Veit Sprenger (Showcase Beat Le Mot) develop an interventionist music machine: the Moon Machine is put into operation for the first time at the Festival Flurstücke - a mobile music island, a
bricolage with pneumatic instruments and mechatronic sound machines, parasol, signal horns and acoustic collision warning devices. Mynther and Sprenger explore the world of Moondogs with a selection
of his works, own melodies, poems and experiments with his inventions like the Trimba or the Dragon's Teeth.

2019 jährt sich der Todestag des Ausnahmemusikers Moondog zum zwanzigsten Mal. Moondog, der sowohl in den USA als auch in Deutschland als Straßenkünstler, mobiler
Poet und Instrumentenbauer aktiv war, ist bis heute ein wichtiger Einfluss in der zeitgenössischen Kunst. Zu seinen Ehren entwickeln der Komponist Thies Mynther (auch bekannt von Phantom Ghost,
Superpunk, Stella) und der Theatermacher Veit Sprenger (Showcase Beat Le Mot) eine interventionistische Musikmaschine: Die Moon Machine wird beim Festival Flurstücke erstmals in Betrieb genommen –
eine mobile Musikinsel, eine Bricolage mit pneumatischen Instrumenten und mechatronischen Klangautomaten, Sonnenschirm, Signalhörnern und akustischen Kollisionswarngeräten. Mynther und Sprenger
erkunden die Welt Moondogs mit einer Auswahl seiner Werke, eigenen Melodien, Gedichten und Experimenten mit seinen Erfindungen wie der Trimba oder den Dragon’s Teeth.
